North Central Regional Controller

Job Description

L&W Supply is a leading specialty distributor of drywall, ceiling tiles, steel framing and other building materials used by commercial and residential contractors. L&W Supply delivers the products and capabilities offered by a national distributor paired with the service and personal touch usually found only in a locally owned business.

The Region Controller provides support to all L&W associates within the region, under the direct supervision of the Regional Vice President (RVP) and guidance from the Senior Director of Finance and Controller with support from the National Support Center (NSC).

In this role, you will be responsible for quantitative business analysis and reporting for region, districts and branches.  Primary focus will be in the area of pricing, costing, margin analysis, trend reporting, customer metrics, sales planning and performance cost to serve and other value added initiatives.

Specific duties may include:

• Leading and/or supporting miscellaneous projects as directed by region management
• Conducting payroll, operating expense and overhead analysis to improve operating efficiencies and expense leverage
• Conduct P&L reviews with various levels of the organization
• Providing tracking and analysis for product launch and targeted growth initiatives
• Interface with Corporate FP&A and Accounting to ensure accurate business plans and financial results
• Providing branch support for daily and month-end processes
• Providing analysis and regular status reports on results of key activities and initiatives
• Support cycle count and annual physical inventory processes
• Monitoring and addressing asset control practices and issues in the region
• Developing recommendations to address audit issues and opportunities for improvement
• Conducting and/or supporting investment analysis related to capital expenditures, acquisitions and greenfield locations
• Leading budget and quarterly forecast processes
• Other duties as assigned

Specific qualifications include:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge MS Office, with emphasis in Excel
• Ability to learn ERP and Business Intelligence reporting platforms
• Ability to travel 15-20% of the year
• Ability to work in both team and individual environments
• Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner
